Short answer
No. Institutions are not required to send every student examination script to ITAA. Accreditation focuses on demonstrated assessment processes, secure record‑keeping and sampled evidence that assessments are valid, reliable and fairly moderated.
What ITAA normally requires
For accreditation review ITAA asks institutions to provide:
- A published assessment policy and associated procedures (marking, feedback, academic integrity, reasonable adjustments).
- Sample assessment instruments and marking guides (exams, assignments, rubrics) representative of programme levels.
- Evidence of moderation and external examining (moderation reports, external examiner comments, or equivalent quality‑assurance records).
- Records showing secure storage of assessed work, grade records and transcripts where relevant.
- Any additional material that demonstrates standards are maintained across delivery modes (online, blended, multi‑campus).
When anonymised or individual scripts may be requested
ITAA may request anonymised samples of marked student work or specific examination scripts in limited circumstances, for example during a site visit, a targeted investigation, a revalidation exercise, or where sampled evidence is needed to verify assessment standards. Requests are proportionate and confidential.
Compliance and legal responsibilities
Institutions remain responsible for complying with all applicable national, state/provincial and local laws on records, privacy and awarding qualifications. ITAA accreditation never overrides local law and does not grant statutory degree‑awarding powers. Institutions must therefore retain and release student records where required by law or regulator.
Practical recommendations for institutions
- Maintain a clear, published assessment policy aligned with recognised quality standards (internal moderation, external examiners or peer review).
- Keep organised, auditable samples of assessed work and moderation reports for periodic review.
- Use anonymisation and data‑protection procedures when sharing student work with external reviewers.
- Be ready to supply proportionate evidence if ITAA or a statutory regulator requests verification.
Frequently asked questions
Does ITAA keep copies of student papers?
Only where samples are provided for review or when requested; ITAA does not routinely collect all scripts.
Will providing scripts breach privacy?
Institutions must follow data‑protection law; anonymise personal data when appropriate.
Are external examiners mandatory?
External scrutiny or equivalent peer review is expected as part of quality assurance, though arrangements vary by context.
ITAA will take possession of every student exam.
ITAA does not request full collections of student exams; only representative or sampled evidence is required for review or investigation.
ITAA accreditation replaces government registration for awarding degrees.
ITAA accreditation does not grant statutory degree‑awarding powers and does not replace governmental recognition or local licensing requirements.
ITAA’s position on assessment evidence
ITAA supports transparent, secure and academically rigorous assessment systems. Accreditation evaluates institutional assessment policy, moderation, and representative evidence of student achievement rather than routine collection of all individual examination scripts. Institutions must comply with local laws and retain responsibility for records, certificates and legal obligations.
