Overview

The International Theological Accreditation Association (ITAA) provides independent theological accreditation to institutions that meet ITAA standards and processes. ITAA accreditation is an independent quality-assurance activity that helps students and stakeholders understand an institution's systems and governance. ITAA is not a governmental accreditation authority and does not replace any legal, statutory or regulatory requirements that apply to an institution in its country or region. Institutions remain solely responsible for compliance with all applicable national, state/provincial and local laws.

Who may apply

We welcome applications from all Christian educational institutions, including schools, colleges, universities, seminaries, Bible schools, theological institutes, ministry training centres, and Christian distance-learning and online education providers.

Newly established institutions, or those that do not yet meet all our requirements, are also welcome to apply for foundational-level recognition. Through ITAA’s assistance programme, these institutions receive guidance to develop the structures, policies, and academic standards needed to progress towards full accreditation. Foundational recognition is a supported development pathway.

  2. Complete the online application form.
  3. Prepare the required portfolio and evidence.
  4. Respond to desk-review requests promptly and prepare for the evaluation visit.
  5. Receive the accreditation outcome and comply with any conditions and reporting obligations.
