ITAA - International Theological Accreditation Association
International Theological Accreditation Association

We are privileged as a faith-based accrediting body, the International Theological Accreditation Association (ITAA), to be recognised by the Council for Education Quality & Accreditation (CEQA).

ITAA provides a ministry-focused, biblically grounded accreditation pathway designed specifically for theological institutions, Bible colleges, ministry schools, church-based training centres, and online Christian education providers.

Our accreditation process is intentionally simple, supportive, and rooted in Christian principles — ensuring that institutions remain biblically sound, academically responsible, and spiritually transformative.

1. What ITAA Accreditation Means

Accreditation by ITAA confirms that your institution:

  • Teaches from a clear biblical and theological foundation

  • Delivers structured and meaningful theological education

  • Demonstrates integrity in curriculum, assessment, and ministry practice

  • Provides spiritual formation opportunities for students

  • Supports learners effectively

  • Operates ethically and responsibly

ITAA accreditation is private-sector theological accreditation and does not represent governmental or national qualification authority recognition.

2. Accreditation Categories

ITAA offers three ministry-focused accreditation options:

Institutional Accreditation

Recognition of the entire institution, including its governance, mission, programmes, and operations.

Programme Accreditation

Evaluation and approval of specific theological programmes (Certificates, Diplomas, Bachelor-level, Ministry training courses, etc.).

Short Course Accreditation

For churches, ministries, and online schools offering non-formal or short theological programmes.

There are no tiers, levels, or per-programme annual fees.

Your annual accreditation licence covers your full institution and all approved programmes.

3. Steps to Accreditation

Step 1 — Accreditation Review

The institution completes the online application form and provides:

  • Institution details (name, address, website, year established)

  • Contact person and communication details

  • Accreditation status (if already accredited elsewhere)

  • Mode of delivery (online, onsite, hybrid)

  • Countries where students are accepted

  • Full list of programmes offered

  • Curriculum documentation (certificates, diplomas, degree programmes, etc.)

  • Theological framework and Statement of Faith

  • Faculty roster with qualification details

  • Information on spiritual formation practices

  • Mission and global outreach philosophy

  • Governance and leadership overview

  • Basic institutional health details (financial stewardship and sustainability)

  • Internal quality assurance components (where applicable)

Only what your institution already has is required. If something is missing, ITAA will guide you through it.

Upon submission, institutions are automatically redirected to the secure payment page for the $99 USD non-refundable application review fee.

Step 2 — Evaluation & Review

Our reviewers assess:

  • Overall biblical and theological integrity

  • Programme structure, curriculum clarity, and learning outcomes

  • Faculty qualifications and ministry experience

  • Spiritual formation activities for students

  • Academic integrity and learner support

  • Institutional governance and sustainability

  • Commitment to transparency and ethical ministry practice

This stage is supportive — not punitive.
If documents are missing or incomplete, we request them and assist where needed.

Step 3 — Accreditation Decision

Once the review is complete, ITAA issues:

  • An accreditation decision

  • A digital accreditation certificate

  • Official listing on our accredited register

  • Permission to display the ITAA accredited seal

  • Guidance on ongoing quality improvement

Accreditation is valid for one year and renewed annually through the $229 USD accreditation fee (reduced to $190 for the first year after subtracting the application fee).

4. Requirements for Accreditation

Institutions should be able to demonstrate:

Biblical & Theological Soundness

A clearly articulated theological framework or Statement of Faith.

Structured Programme Delivery

Clearly defined courses, modules, or learning units.

Qualified Faculty

Educators or ministry leaders who meet your institution’s stated minimum requirements.

Spiritual Formation

Meaningful opportunities for prayer, worship, mentoring, discipleship, or ministry practice.

Governance & Stewardship

Basic leadership structures and sustainable financial practices.

Academic Integrity

Assessment processes, fairness, learner support, and ethical conduct.

Institutions are not required to meet government-level standards or provide HE-quality documents.
ITAA accreditation is tailored for Christian ministry education, not national degrees.

5. What ITAA Accreditation Does NOT Provide

To avoid misunderstanding:

  • ITAA accreditation is not a government or national qualification authority accreditation

  • It does not grant governmental degree-granting status. Every state and country varies in regard to degree granting authority for theological institutes.

  • It is private theological accreditation, recognised through CEQA for quality assurance alignment

6. Support Throughout the Journey

If your institution lacks some documents or is unsure how to structure programmes, ITAA will guide you step by step.
Our goal is to help ministries grow — not to place unnecessary burdens on them.
